Spin the Globe for Out of this World Flavor at the
“Great Chefs at the Lake” Series at The Abbey Resort & Spa

FONTANA, WI – August 26, 2009 – A taste sensation is back by popular demand this fall at The Abbey Resort & Spa – this time with a global twist.  The resort has announced dates for its third-annual “Great Chefs at the Lake” series, a weekend series featuring distinguished chefs, fine four-course dinners, and kitchen tips and tricks from the pros.

The “Great Chefs at the Lake” series will take place over three weekends this fall: Oct. 23-25, Nov. 6-8, and Nov. 13-15.  The weekend packages at The Abbey Resort & Spa include a two-night stay, starting with a Friday evening wine reception with the guest chef, followed by a cooking demonstration and a signature four-course dinner prepared by the featured chef.

Each of the three weekends at The Abbey Resort will feature different chefs and their signature style of cuisine.
T he series kicks off Oct. 23-25 with Executive Chef Todd Stein of cibo matto and ROOF at the Wit Hotel in Chicago.  Chef Stein oversees all culinary aspects of these two new hotspots, with cibo matto translating to “crazy food” in Italian.  From delicious pastas to mouth-watering seafood selections, Chef Stein has now focused his award-winning culinary skills in modern Italian cuisine.

On Nov. 6-8 attendees can indulge in tropical island flavors with Chef Dudley Nieto of Eivissa, a pintxos, tapas and sangria restaurant in Chicago.  This Catalan-inspired oasis on Wells Street features signature “chupitos,” – a liquid tapa made from vegetables – herb-infused sangria, and a pintxos and escabeche bar.  Chef Nieto is known for his “nueva cocina,” a blend of modern kitchen techniques and old-world cooking traditions.

Then, on Nov. 13-15 guests can enjoy red-hot dishes by Jimmy “Tasty J” Madla, chef and co-owner of Coobah.  Chef Madla blends Latino and Filipino flavors at his boisterous restaurant in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, and is known for his tapas-style menu, homemade tamales, and an all-star clientele thanks to his ties to the music industry as the ex-drummer of Veruca Salt.

“Whether you’re the head chef of your home or a novice in the kitchen, the ‘Great Chefs at the Lake’ series is a great excuse to expand your palate with new flavors and learn some tricks of the trade by today’s top chefs,” said Michael Lucero, director of operations at The Abbey Resort.  “Plus, what better complement to a weekend of fine dining than a resort setting on the shores of Lake Geneva?  It’s the complete package for a weekend getaway this fall.”

“Great Chefs at the Lake” weekend packages are $219 per person, plus tax and resort fees and based on a double occupancy.  To make a reservation for the “Great Chefs at the Lake” series, guests can call 888-629-9594.
